This 80's relic was really over-the-top. The Strategy 500 is a power amp which can be foot-switched between two different user-defined volume, presence and bass boost settings for each of it's two (stereo) channels. It's actually 200 WATTS PER SIDE using 12 power tubes (and four more 12AX7 preamp tubes for the tone controls) and has a "half-power" switch so you can clip it like an older head without cranking it up as loud if that's your thing. I have it tubed with 6L6 and 6550 tubes for a full-range sound, but can be used with 5881s or the like for a more warm, creamy tone. At 100% power the massive overhead makes it a great power amp for a bass rig or even for a home stereo.
